How's the Epson Stylus CX4600 ?

It's an all-in-one that had great reviews on amazon -- is anyone here familiar with it? It's another printer/scanner/copier, which we do need for Ant's business. Looks like it's got very high res scanning and printing, too..

  • I don't know anything about all-in-one's Amber, sorry. I guess if the reviews are really all that great, go for it. All the epson's i've owned (740i, Photo2200, and the R200) have always worked out great. Never any driver problems that i can remember.

  • Hey Amber, my dad has had not so great luck with all in ones. I think they have a few theoretical problems, although they do have plusses.
Problems   Driver Support: They are a lower volume product for the maker than either printers or scanners, so if the operating system breaks the driver, then you may have a problem with getting drivers in the longer term.
Two pieces to go wrong: Both scanners and printers have mechanical components that can go bad. Are you willing to forgo printing while the scanner is being repaired, or vice versa?
Can't Mix-Match Components: You may want to upgrade printers before the scanner or you may want a higher-resolution scanner. Make sure you are happy with the specifications of both before you buy.
Pluses   They take up less space than separate components
You can directly photocopy without scanning to the computer and then printing.
No need for a USB hub for multiple USB devices and only one wall wart
Potentially the combined components are less expensive
